About Relocate and Go

Hello, my name is Vivienne Barclay, I am the founder and owner of RelocateandGo  and have been living here in Sitges since September 2002.

Before I moved here, I had accumulated over 20 years customer service management experience in retail and sales, plus training management with companies like Hotpoint and Regus Business Centres. In fact, it was while I was working for Regus that the first seeds of a move abroad were sown.

Living abroad had always been an ambition and after seeing a travel programme about Barcelona, I decided to visit with a view to come and live. I loved it and felt immediately at home. The move took a year in the planning as I retrained as an English language teacher and also timed everything to coincide with a new school year for my oldest daughter, who was then 7 years old.

Even though I researched the move, I still made mistakes. I moved here not being able to speak much of the language and I didn´t have a job. I rushed into renting a property and made hasty decisions. As I didn´t know anyone here, I didn´t have anyone to ask, however, all of this plus 2 years working as an estate agent in the area now means that I have learned, first-hand about rental/sales contracts, bank guarantees, legal obligations and how to avoid the pitfalls.

My youngest daughter was born here, so I have also learned about giving birth here through to finding nursery/school places and activities for the kids during the 3 month summer break.

But I´ve found it´s the little things that are important with a move and settling into a new place so I can also assist with finding vets, gardeners, babysitters, cleaners etc and recommend places to eat or do the shopping, sports clubs, theatre groups, drumming bands, riding schools etc. And if it´s something I don´t know, I´ll try and find out or point you in the right direction.

My aim is to take a common sense approach providing you with useful information and putting you in contact with local people aswell as others who have also relocated.
